Liang Wenchong believes a Chinese player is capable of winning a medal when golf returns to the Olympics in 2016, but only if his countrymen break out and play more tournaments abroad. \"The young Chinese golfers are motivated and inspired to play well. What we need is a strong platform to develop these golfers and hone their skills to another level,\" said Liang, who praised the OneAsia tour as a good launch pad. \"With this in place, I hope that China will at least win a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games,\" he said. Liang has slipped back to a current world ranking of 146, having previously been in the top-100, but with more than 40 Chinese players entered for the $1 million Thailand Open from August 11-14 he said China was starting to develop the depth of its talent pool. Su Dong, one of nine Chinese players currently in the OneAsia tour\'s top 100, echoed Liang\'s comments. \"Chinese players need to play overseas and not just in China all the time. If not, you could be trapped in that same environment and not play well,\" said Su, 21. Golf is being re-introduced to the Olympics in the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro
