American teen sensation Alexis Thompson shot into the lead with a perfect second round in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters on Thursday at the Emirates Golf Club. The youngest LPGA Tour winner, Thompson, 16, fired a bogey-free 66, obviously the day’s best round, to jump into a healthy two-shot lead.Sophie Gustafson of Sweden and Margherita Rigon of Italy were two shots behind the leader while Day One leader Lotta Wahlin of Sweden was tied fourth with Michelle Wie and two other Swedes — Pernilla Lindberg and Louise Larson. Julieta Granada of Paraguay and Becky Morgan of Wales were three shots behind Thompson in the second spot.Laura Davies of England had a miserable round and finished 12 over par to miss the cut. Former DLM winner Anja Monke of Germany also missed the cut with an over par eight.“I made more putts today as I hit little closer,” said Thompson who won the Challenge Match with Gustafson on Monday night. Lexi said she is trying to hit as far as her brothers who are also playing golf. Admitting that having her father caddying for her was a huge advantage, Lexi said “he is the best thing for me now”.“He’s been pretty much caddying for me my whole life and he knows my game best,” added Thompson.“But right now I want to play consistent, taking one shot at a time and I want to continue playing like I have the last two days,” added the American teenage sensation.
