Bangkok - Upi

Donald Young was a straight-set winner Saturday at the PTT Thailand Open and will go against world No. 4 Andy Murray in his first ATP tournament final. Young, 22, beat second-seeded Gael Monfils 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) Saturday, which was just his second trip to the semifinals. He also made the next-to-last round this year at Washington. Monfils pounded out 13 aces and actually had more breaks -- five -- than Young, who had four, managed but fell short in the tiebreakers. Murray, the No. 1 seed, got by third-seeded Gilles Simon 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Murray has won eight of the nine times he\'s played Simon, running his record to 4-0 this year against Simon. Murray used a strong service game Saturday, hitting seven aces against no double faults and winning about two-thirds of the points on serve. He did lose both break points he faced but was 5-for-10 in his own break opportunities. Young has split his two earlier meetings, both of which were this year, against Murray. Murray is seeking his third title of 2011 and 19th in his career. Sunday\'s tournament champion will collect $107,000 and the runner-up earns $56,300. No matter how the match ends, Young will pass the $1 million mark in career earnings. Monfils and Simon each earned $30,500 as semifinalists.
