Argentina have secured the second and final South American berth to the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where they will be joined by newly crowned continental champions Brazil. Brazil, who qualified with a match to spare, defeated Argentina 2-0 on Sunday’s final matchday to secure a 100 per cent record in the tournament for a fifth straight title. Second-half goals from Ketlen and Thaisinha, the latter from the penalty spot, secured the three points and the championship. Despite the loss, the Albiceleste finished second, having secured passage earlier in the day following Colombia’s 2-1 defeat of Paraguay. Colombia starlet Yoreli Rincon scored the winner after Noelia Cuevas had cancelled out the opener from Maria Fernanda Gonzalez. Final standings: Brazil 9 points, Argentina 4, Colombia 3, Paraguay 1
