Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal beat Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong to win the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold on Sunday.
Up against 18-year-old Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong, the top-seeded London Olympics bronze-medallist triumphed 22-20 22-20 in a 46-minute clash. This was Saina Nehwal's 23rd title overall and the first after last year's Australian Open.
Saina had a sloppy start to the match as she was down 0-4 in the first set. Pornpawee was leading at the break 11-5.
However, Saina narrowed the gap to make it 10-13 before drawing level at 19-19 and then saving a game point. Saina, who won a Bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012, last won a title at the Australian Open in June last year before a knee injury derailed her Rio Olympics campaign last year.
