Switzerland's Steve Guerdat retained his World Cup show jumping title on Monday in Gothenburg, riding Corbinian.
The 2012 Olympic champion won his first World Cup last year in Las Vegas.
Ten-year-old gelding Corbinian was taking part in his first major championship, and Guerdat was pleasantly surprised by his mount.
"I'm surprised myself. I expected to have a good final, but not to win. I feel only happiness," the 33-year-old said.
Dutchman Harrie Smolders finished second on Emerald with Germany's Daniel Deusser, who won the World Cup title in 2014, third with Cornet d’Amour.
