Former world MotoGP champion Casey Stoner suffered a broken shoulder and fractured leg at the Suzuka 8 Hours Race on Sunday.
It was the Australian's first competitive race in almost three years but it ended in disaster when he came off his Honda on a hairpin bend and was sent flying off his machine.
"Well my #Suzuka8H ended spectacularly!Stuck Throttle = Broken Scapula + Fractured Tibia and a few more tweaks. Sucks!," tweeted Stoner from his hospital room.
The Yamaha team of Bradley Smith, Pol Espargaro and Katsuyuki Nakasuga went on to win the race.
