Chelsea’s attempt to finish in the Premier League top four could be hindered by an injury to captain John Terry, who had to be replaced in his team’s Champions League match against Benfica because of two cracked ribs. The 31-year-old defender was struggling to breathe in Wednesday’s 2-1 win and the extent of the injury will be assessed Thursday. Terry was hurt in last week’s 1-0 win over the Portuguese side and managed to play 90 minutes against Aston Villa on Saturday but could only manage an hour Wednesday. Terry says “when you get one in the ribs, you can’t do anything about it.” Chelsea is in the midst of a run of eight games in 26 days, including a two-legged Champions League semifinal against Barcelona and an FA Cup semifinal against Tottenham.
