Schalke are waiting for news on both Peruvian forward Jefferson Farfan and German defender Benedikt Hoewedes after they both suffered knee injuries while on international duty. Farfan injured his left knee in Peru\'s defeat by Ecuador in a FIFA World Cup™ qualifier on Tuesday, the same night Hoewedes tore cruciate ligaments in his right knee in Germany\'s 3-0 win over the Netherlands in Hamburg. The injury happened just after the 23-year-old came on against the Dutch in the second half and Schalke will discover how long they will be without the 23-year-old after more tests on Thursday. \"It happened when I took a knock from Edson Braafheid,\" Hoewedes told German magazine Kicker. \"I immediately felt something, but it happened just after I came on, so I played on. I think I will miss several weeks.\" Schalke play Nuremberg in the Bundesliga on Saturday and team manager Horst Heldt said he is waiting on more news regarding Farfan, who was due to have a scan in Lima today after sustaining his injury in his country\'s 2-0 defeat. \"We still don\'t know how bad it is,\" Schalke manager Horst Heldt told German daily Bild. \"We are working intensively to get more information about his fitness.\"
