Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will miss the World Cup qualifier against San Marino after feeling unwell shortly before the team travelled to the micro-nation on Wednesday.
The German soccer federation says midfielder Julian Brandt has also stayed at home after coming down with the flu.
Germany are also missing midfielders Toni Kroos and Julian Draxler, as well as defender Jerome Boateng, because of injuries.
After playing in San Marino on Friday, Germany meet Italy in a friendly on Tuesday in Milan.
Germany lead their World Cup qualifying group, which also contains Northern Ireland, with three wins from three matches and are expected to win heavily against San Marino.
The reigning world champions must top their group if they are to guarantee a spot at the 2018 finals to defend their title
