Cleveland Browns linebacker Armonty Bryant will miss Sunday's game at Kansas City after he and team-mate De'Ante Saunders were arrested after a traffic stop on Christmas Day.
Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement on Saturday that the behavior of the players was "extremely disappointing."
The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that Saunders, who is on the Browns' practice squad, was cited for driving under the influence after he was pulled over for speeding on Friday morning. Bryant was a passenger in the car.
Patrol spokesman Lieutenant Craig Cvetan said a gun was confiscated from Saunders' car but he did not have a concealed weapons permit.
The prescription drug Adderall was also found in the car, with media reports saying Bryant, second on the team with 5.5 quarterback sacks this season, faced charges of possessing the stimulant without a prescription.
"We are aware of the arrests of De'Ante Saunders and Armonty Bryant after a traffic stop early Friday morning," Farmer said.
"These are charges that we take very seriously. The importance of responsible decision-making is something we continually stress to all members of our organization, which makes it extremely disappointing that these two individuals would put themselves in this situation by making such poor decisions.
"Armonty will be inactive on Sunday for our game against the Chiefs and will not travel with the team to Kansas City so he can tend to this personal legal matter. In addition to being a pending legal matter, this incident is subject to the NFL personal conduct policy and we have no further comment at this time."
Bryant, 25, is in his third year with the Browns. He has had prior legal troubles including an arrest for selling marijuana in 2012 when he was in college and a drink-driving arrest after he was drafted in 2013.
