The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided today to suspend the Peruvian international footballer Joel Melchor Sánchez Alegría who was provisionally suspended in January for an anti-doping rule violation following a doping control conducted in the FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifier played in La Paz, Bolivia, on 12 October 2012. The player has been suspended for a period of two years after testing positive for Methylhexaneamine, a substance included on WADA’s 2012 prohibited list. By testing positive for a prohibited substance, the player has violated Article 6 of the FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations and, as such, contravened Article 63 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. The suspension period starts from 22 January 2013, the date on which the player was first provisionally suspended by the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee. It applies to all matches, whether friendly or official fixtures, at domestic and international level. FIFA
