A number of human rights organizations launched a protest against the measures taken against the Moroccan rural residents who have been arrested due to their protests. Moroccan politician Mustafa Al Barahma said that the protest comes to express solidarity with those people who have been imprisoned by the Moroccan authorities.
He added, in an interview with “Muslimchronicle”, that the number of Hassima’s prisoners increased to hit 100 persons, saying that the security forces arrested a large number of people in the incidents witnessed there and they are facing trial during the current period.
He added, in a statement to “Muslimchronicle”, that his party has a strong presence in the province of Al Hoceima through the party’s provincial leadership that is keen to contact with the citizens living there on regular basis, saying that they always work to coordinate with the social society movements.
He added that the party gives priority to the issues of the citizens, saying that they held a meeting recently to discuss the different issues related to the citizens and issued a statement to clarify our position from the protests witnessed in Hassima.
He added, “The protests in the first six months in the countryside were peaceful and the security authorities did not intervene. There was respect in the expression and protest of the rural people, although there were objections and observations regarding the delay of the local authorities and the government in dialogue with representatives of mobility and delays in the completion of projects in the region.”
However, he blamed the role performed by the Interior Ministry during the recent period, saying that such a dealing reflects the problem facing the security institution in the country. He stressed that they turned to use the violence against the protesters in a clear violation against the rules of dealing with demonstrations.
The political leader questioned what the previous government has presented in the last five years, pointing out that the current government does not fully assume the responsibility in the protests. He stressed that the government proved its inability to contact with the people in the streets.
He added that the delay in the formation of the Moroccan government for over five months after the recent parliamentary elections performed a major role to fuel the situation in the area, saying that the government did not take serious action to resolve the problems of the citizens or to hold a dialogue with them. He added that that the current government adopts a new direction and Appeared at the last meeting and its main objective was to meet the demands of the rural population
