Director General of Associations and Political Parties Ali Amira revealed that theTunisian government dissolved 53 associations upon judicial verdicts, as a large number of people filed lawsuits against these associations. He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that over 825 associations received warnings from the judicial authorities, while 164 associations have been suspended by the authorities during the recent period. He stressed that the associations receiving financial aids should be supervised. He stressed that some associations receive increasing financial aids to perform suspicious activities aiming to destabilize the country. He called on NGOs to disclose "all foreign funds they receive and explain their source, value and purpose in a media outlet within a month of the date of the statement, in accordance with the provisions of Article 41 of Decree No. 88 on the organization of NGOs issued in 2011." It also called on NGOs to apply Article 44 of the same decree, which states, “Each association benefiting from public funds shall provide an annual report to the Accounts Department including a comprehensive detailed description of its funding sources and expenditures.”
