Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said the terror attack that occurred outside the Italian consulate in Cairo this morning does not intimidate Italy.
The foreign minister confirmed on his Twitter account that the attack left no Italian victims.
The ministry's crisis management department is in contact with the Egyptian authorities over the incident, he said.
A group of Italian diplomats inspected the blast scene in Cairo, he added.
The explosion so far left one person dead, and nine others injured. It also destroyed nine building fronts in the area. Initial information suggests the blast was caused by a booby-trapped car parked outside the consulate.
