Sudanese Investment Minister Moustafa Othman said on Monday he is confident that Egypt is capable of restoring its pioneering role and stability in the region.
Speaking to diplomatic reporters after his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the Sudanese minister said his talks with Shoukry covered bilateral relations which he described as strategic.
These strategic relations should turn into joint projects, he said.
He said more meetings between Sudanese and Egyptian officials will take place within the coming period to further promote relations between the two countries.
He said there are one-billion-dollar Egyptian investments in Sudan and that there are 15-billion-dollar projects which have been agreed upon between the two sides but not executable yet.
As for the controversial Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, he said the meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Ethiopian premier broke the stalemate in the two countries' relations and opened the door for more cooperation.
The issue is not about a face-off between Egypt and Sudan on one hand and Ethiopia on the other but it is a tripartite cooperation that will affect the entire region, he added.
