Egyptian parliamentarian Tariq Radwan expressed his frustration over the decision taken by U.S President Donald Trump to move U.S embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, saying that such a decision leaves negative repercussions on the peace process as whole.
He warned the U.S Administration that the decision would isolate the American role in the Palestinian issue, rebuking the threats launched by U.S representative in the UN during the latest UN General Assembly meeting. He said that Egypt does not need the American aids.
He added that Egypt has the ability to abandon the aids, saying that the civil aids has been reduced from $800 million to be $90 million. Regarding the military aids, he said that the Egyptian government turned recently to diversify its sources not to allow the U.S Administration uses this issue as a winning card against the Egyptian positions.
He added that the American position represents a war against the Palestinian people and the Arabs as a whole, and the position of Trump and his administration is an aggression on freedom and justice and the Palestinian. He stressed that it will lead to tension in the region and a threat to international peace and security.
He added that the American administration has stepped out of the role of mediator in the peace process in the role of bias and adopting the extreme right-wing position.
He added that the main problem is that the status quo has been violated. This can lead to a braking and so sluggishly moving political process for the demarcation of the two peoples in the Middle East.
In addition, he continued, the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the mediating countries in the settlement of the Israeli-Muslim conflict can be stalled.
“ In my opinion, in this Trump made a very inexcusable tactical mistake. Therefore now it will be much more difficult for the United States to act as an intermediary and de facto help in reconciliation of the Israeli and Palestinian people," he said
He stressed that US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will lead to a halt in the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
