Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab stressed on Monday that the government is facing major power challenges to meet growing demands and is keen to bring new plants into force ahead of the coming summer season.
The government works hard to bring Banha, North Giza and Sokhna power stations into service soon and cooperate with different partners to carry out necessary maintenance works, Mahlab said at a meeting with Vice Chairman of General Electric Co. John Rice with the participation of Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker.
Mahlab urged General Electric company to take part in the economic conference to be hosted by Egypt in March.
Rice, on his part, said his company is keen on cooperating with Egypt in the power domains and is currently training a number of Egyptians on the operation and maintenance of power plants to guarantee long-effective performance.
He said the company is ready to take part in setting up renewable energy plants in Egypt and conduct technical and financial studies needed for such projects.
Shaker said the ministry is cooperating with international partners in the US and China in the power domain.
