Egypt's Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Omar Marwan, stressed that his ministry will be the liaison between the government and parliament, in the light of the new terms of reference after separated it from the ministry of legal affairs and the assignment of legal affairs to the Ministry of Justice. "We will be the pulse of parliament in the government, and the government's representative to the Council of Representatives," Marwan said.
Marwan explained, in an exclusive interview with Arabs Today, that the Ministry of Justice will be the responsible for preparing the draft laws, while the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will follow-up these draft laws, wether in the parliament or in the Council of State, stressing that he allocates a representative to follow up the preparation of laws.
Regarding the government's measures concerning the number of Egyptian Christian families who have fled from El Arish to Ismailia, the minister said that the latest report from the operations room reported that the total number of the the fleeing families reached 154 families, was rehoused in seven provinces, of which 108 families in Ismailia,11 in Assiut, 7 in Qalyoubia, 4 in Dakahlia, 17 in Cairo and 6 in Port Said as well as one family in Minya.
Marwan mentioned that Ministry of Social Solidarity commissioned its directorates in governorates to ensure the accommodation of coptic families and providing houses for them, and giving them money from the Social Solidarity Foundation in the governorates, pointing out that Minister of Manpower will announced, soonو employing of 80 persons of the Coptic families, in factories and private sector companies in Ismailia.
Marwan revealed that the government will deliver EGP1000 to the families as urgent subsidy, with the provision of health follow-up through the Suez Canal University and the Directorate of Health and the provision of medicines for chronic diseases from the Pharmacists Syndicate in Ismailia.
Concerning his priorities in the ministry, he said that he is trying to use a new approach in the ministry is to participate in all meetings of specific committees of the council, to achieve the highest fruitful cooperation between the legislative and executive branches.
