Sheikh Abdul Salam al-Dahbali, a Yemeni parliamentarian from Taiz, announced the opening of the safe road to Taiz governorate. The road runs from the directorate of Khadeer and passes through areas of Zilai, Abdan, al-Saramein, and up to the Salh palace east of the city.
Al-Dahbali stressed, in a statement to Muslimchronicle, that the road is a security corridor for humanitarian aid and transporting civilians to and from the city. The community committee agreed with the parties of the conflict to facilitate the passage of civilians, goods and humanitarian aid without causing any problems.
He pointed out that the only corridor that was available to enter Taiz through the districts of Khadair and Mesrakh, but the trucks cannot pass through, due to the rough road, and takes four to five hours for the passage of cars, and the only cars that can pass are the four-wheel drive. "While all cars can pass through the new road opened by the committee, which also allows the entrance of relief and goods without hindrance and takes access to the city of Taiz about an hour," he stated.
Al-Dahbali stressed the importance of opening the security road to Taiz as a moral, religious and humanitarian duty towards civilians in Taiz and ensuring that humanitarian aid and goods are not intercepted in Taiz city, which faces a deteriorating humanitarian situation and facilitates the movement of citizens to and from outside the city.
He also indicated that the community committee will continue its efforts to deliver aid and secure the land crossings in Taiz and seeks to release the civilian detainees in both sides of the conflict.
According to Al-Dahbali, the community committee will continue to work and make efforts to serve the civilians in Taiz, warning the parties of the armed conflict from trying to fabricate the problems that would stop the security port and impede efforts in the interest of civilians affected by the war.
He called on the parties of conflict to abide fully by the agreements with the committee in order to serve the civilians and to facilitate the access of their needs, transportation and relief, considering that the agreement serves the innocent population and alleviates their long-suffering.
