Iraqi parliamentarian Jamila Al Ebeidy underlined the increasing suffering of citizens besieged in Mousl’s district which have not been liberated from the grip of ISIS extremist group especially with the advance of the Iraqi troops to the high-populated areas of the Iraqi city.
She added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that she launched an appeal to Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider Abadi and Sunni and Shiite clerics in addition to the other rights and civil society organizations to perform their work immediately to save those residents as soon as possible. She stressed the need for providing them with food and basic elements of life.
She stressed, “We receive hundreds of appeals from the besieged citizens living in Mousl’s districts on daily basis demanding the government to provide them with food.” She added that they suffer from serious problem due to the increasing number of old people and children.
She stressed that the citizens of the districts that have not been liberates to deliver their suffering to the Iraqi officials, calling the government for taking serious steps to save those people as soon as possible. She stressed that the government can deliver food to the besieged areas through the air forces.
She underlined the importance of the parliamentary role to contain the crisis, saying that the committee follows the developments to refer the formal reports to the parliament, including the basic needs of the displaced people. She stressed the need for a serious role for the government and other international organizations to perform a role to help the displaced people.
She warned, “If the government has not responded to our demands, the Iraqis would face genocide. The government should take serious steps to contain the current crisis witnessed in the country.”
