Egyptian MP and head of the parliamentary economic committee, Amr Ghallab, expressed his satisfaction over the cabinet reshuffle in the government of Sherif Ismail.
"I believe that this amendment came too late and had to be conducting since October, and we already demanded the resignation of a number of ministers, especially ministers of the economic community, after their great failure, especially after the latest economic decisions, which included flotation of the Egyptian pound and removal of subsidies on fuel," Ghallab said in an exclusive interview with Arabs Today.
I announced clearly, my full support to this economic decisions, and I see it came too late for decades, Egypt was only country which subsidies petrol, which strain the state budget, pointing out that all former governments and regimes wished to take such actions, but it was back down for fear of facing public anger, the Egyptian PM added.
This economic decisions lacked a new study and pre-prepared plan to face its consequences, and now its price paid by the Egyptian citizen, Ghallab said.
Previously, members of the economic committee in the House of Representatives, held extensive meetings with the ministers of agriculture, industry and logistics to discuss new ways of the consumer protection programs, he added.
The head of the parliamentary economic committee thanked the former head of the committee, Ali Moselhy, for his efforts during his term as president of the Committee, after he became a minister, pointing out that improving the investment climate, as the investment law, drafting of legislation affecting the life of the Egyptian citizen, as a law of consumer protection, discussing number of proposals submitted by a number of MPs, which would contribute in pushing the wheel of production stalled five years ago, will top his committee agenda.
Concerning the dispute that broke out between the Minister of Supply, and one of the members of the Economic Committee, Ghallab confirmed that disagreements exist in any parliament in the world.
In response to a reconciliation with the banned Muslim Brotherhood, Amr Ghallab refused this proposal, after the organization's members participated in extremist actions and processes, which claimed the lives of hundreds of sons of the Egyptian people.
