His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Sunday, met with the parliamentary National Accord Bloc at Husseiniyyeh Palace as part of a series of meetings with house members to discuss domestic issues.
He said the Kingdom's comprehensive reform process, which is proceeding surely, and not hampered by regional challenges, aims to fulfill national priorities agreed on by the people of Jordan.
His Majesty voiced confidence in the capabilities of state institutions, the armed forces and security agencies as well as the people's awareness of the need to safeguard the homeland and its stability.
Jordan places its higher national interests above all considerations in handling regional challenges, his majesty said, adding that his directives to the government to activate defense ministry portfolio and to broaden the mandate of the independent elections commission, are in conformity with the reform process.
His Majesty urged continued coordination among all state institution as well as consultation between the executive and legislative branches with the backing of the judiciary to reinforce stability in light of current challenges.
On the economic situation, King Abdullah said eradicating poverty and unemployment and improving the living conditions of citizens, remain at the top of priorities.
On the situation in the Gaza strip, his majesty said the Israeli aggression must end to allow for the reconstruction of Gaza.
He also spoke of the Syria crisis, and the volatile situation in Iraq, where only dialogue with the participation of all segments of society can resolve the ongoing conflicts.
