Sporting director Robin Dutt has been sacked with immediate effect whereas Jos Luhukay has been appointed as the new head coach, relegated Stuttgart said in an official statement on Tuesday.
Three days after the 3-1 loss to Wolfsburg, which sealed the clubs second relegation in 41 years, Stuttgart continues to make room for new personnel, as Robin Dutt is no longer sporting director of Stuttgart. The club' s statement reads as follows: "After intensive talks with the supervisory board and Robin Dutt both sides mutually agreed to part company with immediate effect."
The 51-year-old former Bundesliga coach, who coached Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen among others, joined Stuttgart as sporting director in January 2015 after putting pen to paper on a deal until December 2018.
However, another important decision for the new alignment in the second division has been confirmed. Jos Luhukay has been appointed as Stuttgart' s new head coach for the next two years. The 52-year-old coach guided already Monchengladbach, Augsburg as well as Berlin from the second into Germany' s top flight.
"Jos Luhukay is a very experienced coach who has impressed with his versatile qualities as a coach in his previous commitments," Stuttgart' s marketing chairman Jochen Roettgermann said. "He knows the German soccer from different angles as he promoted with three clubs into the Bundesliga."
Former coach Juergen Kramny has been relieved from all his duties after the relegation. It is not yet not decided whether he can return to his previous position, as a youth coach, or not.
Stuttgart completed the Bundesliga season 2016-2017 on the second last position of the standings.
