The United Nations and African Union officials held meetings in Khartoum on February 15-18 to discuss with Sudanese Government the UNAMID's eventual exit from Darfur, read a press release by UNAMID on Thursday.
"After three sessions of work, the tripartite team reached agreement on the terms of reference. It is expected that the joint working group established in the terms of reference will begin its task in early March with the view to preparing the exit strategy of UNAMID from Darfur in stable and secure conditions," the UNAMID said.
In the meantime, UNAMID continues to implement its Chapter VII mandate as it focuses on its three strategic priorities, including protection of civilians, mediation between Government and non-signatory armed movements and support to local conflict mediation.
