Three weapons caches, including 30 tons of explosives, were seized in the cities of Giza and Arish, said a statement by the Armed Forces.
Acting upon precise information, the armed forces spotted a plot by terrorist elements to smuggle materials used for manufacturing explosive.
Three weapons caches were seized in Imbaba district in Giza and another warehouse was seized in Arish.
The warehouses include 30 tons of material used in explosives' manufacturing. The explosives entered the country as part of office supplies' shipment.
The terrorist elements involved in smuggling the explosives were arrested.
Legal measures have been taken against the arrestees.
The Armed Forces has called on Egyptians to be aware of threats and dangers facing the country, urging them to cooperate with security forces to immediately report any suspicious acts that undermine the stability and security of the country.
