At least two military officers and five soldiers were killed on Sunday when an explosion occurred near two armored vehicles in Sinai's Al-Arish, leaving six more injured, according to military sources.
A planted explosive device on a road in south Arish remotely detonated those armored vehicles, sources said in a statement.
The explosion totally destroyed one vehicle and caused huge damage in the second one, noted the statement.
It added that both dead and injured persons were set to be transferred to military hospitals in Cairo later in the day.
Some army and police forces started searching for perpetrators. Security forces in North Sinai have intensified their security measures in reaction to repeated militant attacks that target army and police officials.
