Six people, including three policemen, were killed on Thursday when an explosive device went off during a security raid on a terrorist hideout in Giza governorate, the Interior Ministry said.
"Security agencies have received information that committees affiliated with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group are planning to carry out hostile acts during this period against vital state facilities," the ministry said in a statement.
It added that the group was holed up in an apartment in Libini Street in Mariyotiya area of Giza governorate.
A police force raided the apartment where an explosive charge went off, killing three policemen, a citizen and two others whose identities are still unknown, and wounding 13 others, it said.
The injured were taken to hospital and all legal measures were taken, it added.
