Efforts are underway by the Roads Authority experts to bring the collapsed bridge in Qalyoub back in place, Head of Qalyoub City Tarek Zayed said.
A speedy truck rammed into the concrete structure of the pedestrian bridge but no casualties were reported.
The collision caused the bridge to incline and have some of its metal parts fall on the road underneath.
Security forces, in help of municipal officials and the Roads Authority experts, are trying to remove the fallen pieces off the road, Zayed said.
Cars were diverted to sub roads until all debris were removed, he said, expecting traffic on the agricultural road to return to normal within hours
