The Indian embassy in Egypt launched the India@70 Campaign in Cairo's underground metro on Wednesday at Sadat Station to commemorate 70 years of India’s independence.
“This will be first time ever for the metro to feature a country-based campaign signifying the importance of Indian-Egyptian relations, as India celebrates 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Egypt,” the embassy said in an emailed statement to Ahram Online.
The campaign, which will last for two months, will feature “Incredible India!” and “Make in India” to showcase different facets of the country in the 21st century as a preferred tourism and investment destination.
As part of the campaign, a metro train with nine coaches in the metro's Line 1 will run showcasing the diversity of Indian culture, festivals, monuments, landscape, people and food.
It will run on Cairo’s underground Helwan-Marg line, which covers 35 stations
The campaign will also showcase investment opportunities under the ‘Make in India’ programme and the annual ‘India by the Nile' cultural festival.
The campaign was launched in Sadat station with a performance
“The India@70 campaign, in conjunction with our cultural and economic outreach, will promote public awareness in Egypt about the diversity of India, her friendly people and economic developments to promote closer people-to-people contacts,” Ambassador Sanjay Bhattacharyya was quoted as saying in the statement
The campaign was launched in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Transport, the Cairo Metro Authority, the National Authority of Tunnels and Al-Ahram Advertising Agency
