A policeman was killed and 11 others, including two civilians, were injured in a booby-trapped car blast outside a hotel in Arish.
Security bodies exchanged fire with the militants in the car before reaching their target. The car was fully destroyed by security men.
Security sources said the gunmen targeted policemen in the surroundings of the Swiss Inn Hotel and exchanged fire with them before fully destroying the vehicle.
