The bombing that occurred Sunday inside the Boutrosiya Church, an ancient place of worship which had been built by the family of Boutros Ghali Pasha.
Ghali had served as Egypt's prime minister in the period between 1908 to 1911. His family had built the church above his tomb at its own expense.
Former UN secretary general Boutros Boutros Ghali was the latest family member to be buried in the tomb.
The ancient church contains a number of mosaics of Angelo Giannini.
