Three policemen, an inspector and two officers, travelling in a car near the locality of Zemmoura (35 km of Bordj Bou Arreridj, 227 km east of Algiers), have been fired on Thursday, security source said. The inspector and one of the officers were immediately killed while the other officer, seriously injured, died in the Bouzidi-Lakhdar Hospital of Bordj Bou Arreridj, medical sources said.
The terrorist attack, which occurred in a sharp turn in a mountainous region below a wooded area has surprised the driver and the passengers of the car who had the time to react, the source said.
The injured police officer is at present in intensive care in the Bouzidi-Lakhdar Hospital of Bordj Bou Arreridj and should undergo a surgery.
An investigation was opened as the combined security forces are now hunting the authors of the attack in the region, the same source noted.
The three victims will be laid to rest Friday afternoon
