Algeria's army arrested 24 African illegal immigrants and five smugglers, Communique of the National Defence Ministry said Wednesday, according to Algeria Press Service.
"As part of the efforts of securing the borders and combating smuggling and the organized crime, two detachments of the Army, under the operational sectors of In Guezzam and Bordj Badji Mokhtar (6th Military Region), arrested on 28 April 2015, 5 smugglers and seized a Kalachnikov machine gun, an amount of ammunition, two cars, 1.57 ton of food products, 11 metal detectors and 2 cell phones," the same source added.
"Moreover, the members of the National Gendarmerie, in the operational sectors of Tlemcen and Ain Temouchent (2nd Military Region) seized 30 kilos of cannabis and 7,670 liters of fuel for smuggling," the MDN said.
