One man was killed and 55 others were injured Sunday in tribal clashes in the Algerian province of Ghardaia, about 600 km south of the capital Algiers, a local medical source told Xinhua. After less than two weeks of relative calm, violence flared up again between the tribe of Chaamba (Arabs) and the Mozabites ( Berbers) Friday in Ghardaia, where belligerents used swords and Molotov cocktails, according to witnesses. The clashes first erupted more than a month ago, leaving a dozen people injured, before elders of the two communities reached a truce under the mediation of the government. In recent years, various localities in Ghardaia, with a population of some 200,000, have been rattled by violent clashes between Mozabites and Chaamba tribes.
