Vanguard Chronicles
Caledon - Arab Today

“I have always been intrigued by people throughout human history that made a decision for whatever reason to leave everything behind and venture into the wilderness to start new lives,” explains author Lawrence Menard.“Packing up only what they could carry and filled with hopes for a brighter future, these pioneers took the leap of faith into the unknown.” It was these “true adventurers,” as he calls them, that inspired him to write the new book, “The Vanguard Chronicles” (published by Trafford Publishing).
The year is 3126 and the Earth is dead – shortly mankind will suffer the same fate. In a last ditch, almost futile effort, to save as many of their young men and women as possible, a series of six enormous “Space Arks” are built under the code name “Vanguard.” On board each of these “Arks,” thousands of pre-screened men and woman live out their lives in a carefully constructed environment designed to mimic all that Earth was.
“The Vanguard Chronicles” tells the exciting story of a group of refugees from a dead planet earth who are launched into deep space to find a new home world. Naïve and unprepared, they must learn to adapt to an alien environment that challenges all they thought they knew about themselves. As they try to come to grips with their newfound realities, they learn to be survivors while maintaining their family values and sense of humor.
“Although the book classifies as science fiction, it is less about futuristic toys and gizmos and more about the instinctive and creative efforts of people trying to survive,” Menard says. “The main characters are very much like us, trying to get through each day and each challenge while maintaining their sense of humor and love of life.”
