The first edition of the Luxor Arabic Poetry Festival is to be launched next Thursday.

The three-day event, organised under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in Luxor Egypt, will see the participation of 35 Egyptian poets, key writers and innovators in the Arab world.

The festival will be attended by the Egyptian Culture Minister, Hilmi Nimnim, and Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, among others.

Al Owais said that the House of Poetry in Luxor has contributed effectively with official and popular cultural institutions to promote the cultural movement which, he said, has become a real incubator for poets and talents across the country.

He also extended his thanks to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan for his financial and moral support for all local and Arab cultural activities and his permanent keenness on meeting Arab poets in Sharjah on a monthly bases.
