The Syrian Cultural Week kicked off late Monday at the Mali Teatro Theatre in Moscow. Syrian Culture Minister Riad Ismat, Syria's Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad, number of Russian officials and figures in addition to members of the Syrian community in Russia attended the activity. Minister Ismat told SANA that "Our visit to Moscow expresses the deep-rooted friendship between our peoples, especially after Russia stood with Syria in the current crisis." "We in Syria and especially at the Ministry stress the civilized identity of our nation and its national unity." He added. Many Syrian musical groups are participating in the activity, including Enana Dance Theatre Group which will present theatric show 'Julia Domna'. 'Makam or Musical Key' Band will perform oriental music with western style. Oriental Female Orchestra will perform several original Arab songs. Deputy Culture Minister of Russia, Ekaterina Chukovskaya, stressed the deepness of the historic relation between the two countries, adding that this relation goes back to 400 years ago. She pointed out to the huge success of the Russian Cultural Days in Syria last April, indicating that the Syrian Cultural Week provides opportunity to the Russians to be familiar with Syria's ancient culture.
