The Danish-Arab Urban Arts Festival will seek to gather young underground artists from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Denmark, providing them with a creative and unified platform through which the community and creativity can interconnect. Through the promotion of dialogue among cultures, the festival aims to strengthen mutual understanding and tolerance, ultimately contributing to a culture of peaceful coexistence in an open and democratic society. Within the framework of the Danish EU Presidency, the event is a joint production between TARTE aux POIRES along with the Danish Embassy in Beirut, the Danish Center for Culture and Development (DCCD), and the Danish Institute in Damascus. The festival will be held on February 25, 2012, at a warehouse in Sin al-Fil called Solea, starting in the afternoon until late at night. The Danish-Arab Urban Arts Festival will celebrate urban artistic culture in a one day event. With live performances by Danish and Arab musicians, contemporary dancers, graffiti and visual artists, poetic corridors, filmmakers and contemporary artist booths, collaborators will present their artistic interpretations of topics such as humanity, modernity and democratic development. The festival will also include an exhibition area displaying blogs, interactive artwork, photography, sculptures, and comics.
