The wait for film enthusiasts came to an end as the 13th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival, DIFF, got under way yesterday.
In an editorial on Thursday, The National said, "DIFF will offer 134 feature films from 55 countries, including 57 world and international premieres, 73 MENA premieres, 12 Middle East premieres and nine GCC premieres, not to mention special appearances from a stellar line-up of industry talent and a spotlight on Arab talent and Oscar hopefuls, which make this a celebration of the very best in the world of cinema.
"Importantly, 13 films are included in the Muhr Emirati section, including a record-high six features. This is quite an achievement considering that a decade ago, our country had barely produced six feature films in total.
"The festival is not just confined to the silver screen, as the organisers have promised a Star Wars-themed party that fans of the franchise won’t want to miss. So enjoy the festival," the paper concluded.
