The Central Party Literature Press on Thursday announced the publication of a book on former Chinese president Jiang Zemin's work at the country's first machinery ministry from 1970 to 1980. The period saw Jiang head up a team in charge of aiding Romania and take charge of the ministry's foreign affairs, and was a key period during which China's machinery industry developed toward a new phase. Confronted with difficulties, Jiang undertook innovative research, worked in a down-to-earth style, and led foreign cooperation in economic and technological matters, according to the book. Its compilers interviewed Jiang's former colleagues and consulted many documents. The book also presents historical pictures.
