Obiaruku - Arab Today

Ned Tony Emeni’s tale “The Last Dictator” (published by Trafford Publishing) is a social commentary in the form of a novel covering more than three decades of Nigerian governance, insecurity, corruption and misrule. “The Last Dictator” explicitly exhibits a long-lasting, tyrannical government, which Emeni compares to the present-day government which is, he says, supposed to be a purely democratic government, but still exhibits traces of a dictatorship. An excerpt from “The Last Dictator”: “‘On a more serious note, Agari is not a match to Awoniyi but we do not have a choice, he has to win the election by hook or crook,’ Yusuf said. ‘That is a fair deal then,’ the C-in-C said letting out a relief gasp of breath. ‘Let us work on how he becomes the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria then.’” Emeni believes that “The Last Dictator” will, “broaden readers’ horizons, giving them the knowledge that Nigeria still needs redemption from neocolonialism.” Source: PRWEB
