Masrah Al Qasba-Theatre in Sharjah is staging the first show of its three-day ‘Alice in Wonderland’ programme tomorrow (Wednesday). Based on the acclaimed children’s novel written by Victorian author Lewis Carroll, the story has been adapted to the stage as a musical, featuring a score composed by famous ‘Brit-pop’ musician Damon Albarn.
Audiences at the internationally stagedplay, which takes place July 6-8 during the Eid Al Fitr holidays, will enjoy an interactive event which caters for all members of the family. The 40-minutemusical will be performed three times a day; the first showing at 5:30pm, the second at 7:30pm and the lastat 9:30pm.
“Al Qasba plays host to an array of engaging family events throughout the year. The Alice in Wonderland musical play is a special activity taking place during Eid Al Fitr, which we are putting on to provide a fun time for all generations during this national holiday. It forms part of our commitment to hosting the very best forms of entertainment that affirm Al Qasba as one of the most significant visitor and tourist destinations in Sharjah,” said Sultan Mohammed Shattaf, Al Qasba Manager.
To promote Alice in Wonderland, a number of artists and acrobats will be present along Al Qasba walkways for 30 minutes before the commencement of each show, with the entertainers interacting withvisitors and encouraging them toparticipate as audience members. Tickets for the musical are being sold at Al Qasba Information Desk and Online at Platinum List, with prices set at AED 50.
Al Qasba offers state-of-the-art tourist and leisure attractions,including restaurants, cafés, the Kids Fun Zone, the Al Qasba Musical Fountain, the Eye of the Emirates Wheel and the Maraya Art Centre, among numerous other facilities that cater to visitors of all ages.
