The play "Mona Louisa," produced by the regional theatre of Batna (TRB), is representing Algeria at the 13th Arab Theatre Festival which is taking place in Cairo from 19 to 30 April, said Monday TRB’s director M’barka Tighaza.
Staged by Tounès Aït El-Hadj and adapted by Djamila Mustapha Ezzakai for a prose poem by Egyptian Said Nasr, the play will be performed on April 26 in Cairo, said the source.
The work is an “Algerian” trip in the enigmatic smile of the Mona Lisa painting of Italian painter Léonardo Da Vinci, according to theatre enthusiasts who attended the performance.
It is the story of an artist who adores an imaginary woman, making tragically the woman of his life jealous, in a black comedy in which the actors succeeded in creating a subtle relation with the picture of Mona Lisa.
