The "Salah Bey" play rehearsal directed by the Regional Theatre of Constantine (TRC), chosen to inaugurate the Theatre Department program of "Constantine, the capital of Arab Culture 2015", was very successful Thursday on the boards of the TRC.
Directed by Tayeb Dehimi from a text of scenarist Saïd Boulmerka, the play opens with the character of Salah, aged 16, who arrives one day, perplexed and hesitant at the port of Algiers from Izmir (Turkey). A psychic appears and predicts a radiant and dazzling future before her face darkens as she "sees" terror on the lines of the young newcomer's hand.
Saleh, energetic, resourceful and getter, begins his new adventure as a waiter in a cafe before joining the army of Janissaries who transfer him to Constantine.
As brave as ambitious, Salah shows his military qualities in the battle of Beylick of Constantine against the Bey of Tunis.
His prowessearned him the accession to beylick of Constantine after his marriage with the daughter of Bey Ahmed Bey El Kolli.
