The Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology Cooperation (ESMA) has signed an agreement with Dubai Municipality, represented by Dubai Central laboratory (DCL), assigning it to be the designated national laboratory for matters concerning national measurement standards. The agreement was signed by Engineer Mohammed Saleh Badri, ESMA director general, and by Salim Bin Mohammed Mesmar, assistant director general for control of the environment, health and safety at Dubai Municipality (DM), according to a statement from the authority. Under this agreement, the DCL must keep standards of the national measurement in accordance with the mandatory requirements contained in the terms of the agreement, provide a calibration service with high level of discipline, and follow scientific developments relating to the international system of units. It must also help in representing Esma in activities related to national metrology centres regionally and internationally, and conducting research in the field of metrology.
