The Trade and Industry Ministry is studying to establish an integrated Syrian industrial zone over an area of 500,000 square meters, Tareq Qabil said Wednesday.
Qabil said this is part of an ambitious plan his Ministry is adopting to encourage the establishment of industrial complexes with the aim to upgrade the industrial sector.
He was speaking in an expanded meeting with Syrian businessmen in Egypt to discuss boosting Syrian investments here.
The meeting took up demands of Syrian investors to establish a Syrian textile industrial zone, Qabil said.
He made it clear that the Ministry has outlined a plan to put up for grabs 15 million square meters of industrial lands during 2017.
The government, Qabil added, is keen on providing all kind of support for Syrian investors in Egypt, which he called their second country.
A delegation of the Egyptian Chambers of Commerce will be visiting Syria in April with the aim to boost economic cooperation in the coming stage, the minister said.
The delegation will also discuss the positive contribution of Egyptian businessmen to the reconstruction of Syria, Qabil added.
He stressed Egypt's keenness on Syria's political and economic stability.
