Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el Moselhi said Sunday that reserves of basic commodities are within safe limits and are enough for the coming four months, particularly wheat whose strategic reserve stands at more than three million tons.
The figure will increase as the local supply begins early in April when the government buys the produce from farmers at prices starting from EGP 555 per ardeb, the minister said in a statement.
The minister reviewed a report by the Holding Company for Food Industries on the basic commodities reserves, saying there is enough rice for 3.6 months, while livestock reserve is enough for 6.8 months.
