The value of total retail sales in November was provisionally estimated at 33.4 billion HK dollars, a 23.5 percent increase over a year earlier, the Census & Statistics Department of the Hong Kong government said Tuesday. After netting out the effect of price changes over the same period, the volume of total retail sales rose 16.9 percent compared with the same period last year. The revised estimate of the value of total retail sales in October, at 34.2 billion HK dollars, was up 23 percent on the same month last year, while the volume of total retail sales increased 15 percent. For the first 11 months of 2011, total retail sales grew 25 percent in value and 18.6 percent in volume over the same period a year earlier. The volume of sales of miscellaneous consumer durable goods gained the most, by 149.1 percent.
