The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will participate in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Championship, which will be held in Moscow, Russia, from 30th August to 11th September, 2017.
A total of 645 athletes from 73 countries will compete in three disciplines of trap, double trap and skeet for men and women during the 10 days.
Three UAE shooters will participate in the Trap Men discipline, while another will take part in the Trap Men Junior.
The teams have already arrived for the championships, and the athletes have started practising to get accustomed to their surroundings during training.
The competition will officially begin tomorrow with the men’s and women’s trap qualification getting underway. The finals of the women's event, both junior and senior category, will be held on Saturday (September 2).
The men’s competition will conclude the following day.
The mixed team trap will make its debut at the championships next Monday (September 4), with the discipline having been included in the programme for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The ISSF decided earlier this year to introduce mixed gender team events in trap, 10m air rifle and 10m air pistol for Tokyo 2020, as they move to implement the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Agenda 2020.
